Reflexology is
the
technique of applying gentle pressure to reflex points on the feet and
hands to bring about a state of deep relaxation, stimulate the body's
healing process and help us return to a state of balance and
well-being.
There
are
a number of theories about how Reflexology works, and I hope continuing
research will enlighten us. I believe reflexology
works chiefly by calming the nervous and endocrine systems, and there is
evidence that having touch therapies such as reflexology lowers the amount of cortisol (dubbed the
'stress hormone') in the body. Stress puts us on red alert in a
'fight or flight' state. When the 'threat' is gone our body systems should relax and revert to normal
function, but if stress is a way of life then
this often doesn’t happen enough, causing damage to the body.
People have reported that reflexology has helped them with
digestive
disorders,
migraines and headaches, sinus problems, insomnia,
stress and anxiety, male and female health problems, hormone related
problems, back and joint pain, pregnancy and fertility issues and many other
conditions. A whole host of special
techniques
may be incorporated into your reflexology treatments.
Facial Rejuvenation Massage combines techniques from Facial Reflexology and
Indian & Japanese Face Massage traditions. As well as being blissfully relaxing, the massage helps to
relieve tension, giving the facial muscles a lift and stimulating the
circulation and lymphatic drainage. Many people report a
reduction in facial lines, and experience firmer and more radiant
skin.
Indian Head Massage is a
therapeutic and highly popular massage of the head, neck, shoulders and face.
This traditional massage is excellent for relieving stress and promoting
relaxation. It stems from the Indian ‘champi’ tradition of massaging the
head, practised among family members as an everyday ritual
